If you want to follow an interesting local contest, look to the DFL Primaries in Senate District 29. In the last 30 years, there has not been a competitive race in this Wright County District for the DFL. The match-up is between the DFL-endorsed candidate with what we consider one of the worst political names we have ever heard, Louis McNutt (DFL-29, Buffalo), and Dan “The Data Center Slayer” Fiskum (DFL-29, Rockford).
Fiskum has increased his name recognition as of late by filing the Campaign Finance challenge to Donald J Trump-endorsed gubernatorial candidate Mike Lindell (R-MN) for providing voters items of value when pitching pillows out to the crowds during parades.
If he prevails, Fiskum will be at the frontline of the Data Center Debate and then his contest against incumbent Senator Michael Holmstrom R-29, Buffalo) is someone we call a Jack-in-the-box or, in his case, Jackass-in-the-box, because he pops up on the floor of the State Senate and talks incessantly about issues he clearly knows nothing about. He is just a mouthpiece for the ultra-far-right Maggot extremists.
The matter has been moving forward at a rapid pace and could seriously and adversely impact the Lindell campaign if the fine is high, and it could be based on the production costs and the fair market value of the pillows in question, combined with the number of pillows pitched. We know there have been multiple events where these items were provided to voters, and the only number we have heard is regarding the Delano 4th of July Parade, where the assessment was 3-5000.
Additionally, there is another race in the House District 29B race between the DFL-endorsed candidate Colton Kratky (DFL-29, Monticello) and Marcus Claxton (DFL-29, Monticello). The interesting feature of this race is Kratky looks like a stand-in for a cast member of Duck Dynasty, and he spouts rhetoric like a Christian Nationalist, which is the type of person who assassinated Speaker Emeritus Melissa Hortman (DFL-MN).
