On Monday, while leaving the House floor at the end of the session, House Speaker Melissa Hortman while speaking with her Press Secretary Ted Modrich pondered out loud in a manner intended to be overhead, whether the need for masks in the House would end by March 1st. When she didn’t receive any response, she did so again, maybe she was intending for us to hear and then report, and this time we asked, if that meant the House Office Building would open up as well, and she said, “It’s likely.”
The House, has been on the chamber with the most astringent rules, its COVID Protocols requiring masks, but also allowing all member floor access to their regular seating, if members so choose, but continuing a hybrid opportunity for any members which opt for that route.
So, regular order could return, and if not the first of March then maybe the Ides of March.
