Minnesota Report

Last week, any visitors to senate offices encountered locked corridor doors, which we learned, were due to a preemptive response to the PRO Act legislation, which Governor Tim Walz (DFL-MN) signed yesterday. Additionally, yesterday, in the Capitol Rotunda, anti-Vaxxers rallied for “Parental Rights” and failed Republican Gubernatorial Dr Scott Jensen, spoke to the throng of hostile parents, who are still chaffing at governmental provisions requiring vaccinations to promote public health. This resulted in the doors to the Governor Tim Walz’ (DFL-MN) and the Attorney General Keith Ellison’s (DFL-MN) offices being locked.

Today, there will be an increased law enforcement presence due to the gun legislation in the House Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee at 8:30 am. Where the following bills will be heard.

Agenda:

HF 396 (Becker-Finn) Safe storage of firearms and ammunition required, locking device required to be included in each firearm transfer, and criminal penalties imposed.

HF 14 (Pinto) Criminal background checks required for firearm transfers, and grounds modified for disqualification of transferee permit.

HF 15 (Frazier) Law enforcement and family members enabled to petition a court to prohibit people from possessing firearms if they pose a significant danger to themselves or others by possessing a firearm, and money appropriated.

HF 601 (Her) Lost and stolen firearms required to be reported promptly to law enforcement.
