Minnesota Report
The insurrection at the US Capitol on January 6th was nothing short of Treason. Now, because we are a country of laws and not of men, we have a United States Constitution, which allows for innocence before guilt and a trial in a court of law rather than just ta public hanging. Every defendant is entitled to a strong defense and if it is not within their economic power the state will provide. Of course, here is where the distrust of the state comes in.
The announcement by Sen Mark Koran (R-32, North Branch) calling for support for a legal defense fund for constituents Jonah Westbury, Isaac Westbury, Robert Westbury and Aaron James who have been charged with various crimes. In April, Jonah Westbury was charged with, Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building and Grounds, Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building and Grounds, Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Capitol Building and Grounds, Parading, and Demonstrating or Picketing in a Capitol Building. Later, Isaac Westbury and Aaron James with a police shield committed “forcible assault, resist, oppose, impede, intimidate and interfere” on an officer, and were charged with carrying a dangerous weapon into the U.S Capitol, while attempting to “impede the orderly conduct of government business and official functions.” Robert Westbury faces a number of lesser charges.
What is missing from all of these charges is domestic terrorism or better yet Treason.
The attention Koran is drawing is from his Facebook posting in support of a “good family” in their legal defense fund started by Rosemarie Westbury, wife of Robert, for $50,000. This seems like a perfect opportunity for Donald J Trump (R) to support his followers.
