Minnesota Report
It is with a heavy heart, I, Shawn Towle write the following: This is an acknowledgment the passing of Michael “Kenner” Kennedy former Executive Director of the DFL Senate Caucus Campaign Committee. He was an affable, dedicated, and knowledgeable stalwart for the DFL. He died of a heart attack on Monday while playing hockey, which one of his personal passions, and having played with and against him on the ice, I know him to be a tactician in this sport as well.
I will never listen to the Beach Boys, or watch the Simpsons without thinking of him. I can still here his short staccato laugh, and he had ability to make you feel, like you were the most important person he was talking to at that very moment. He listen closely asked pointed and direct questions, but also gave consideration to the point raised when it was rendered.
He has not been a regular feature at the DFL for a few years, but his presence should always be felt there. In fact we call for, the DFL to name an award in his name for steadfast determination and work on behalf of candidates and call it appropriately the Kenner Award.
Goodbye my friend. To say you will be missed is a true understatement. In fact, Sweeney’s would be wise to name a booth after him, no make that the patio should be so, aptly named.
