As of Friday, Donald J Trump (R) endorsed Republican Gubernatorial candidate Mike Lindell (R-MN) was not registered to vote in Minnesota as per the voter registration records with the Minnesota Secretary of State. He is registered in Texas, where he moved to and voted last in 2024. This is somewhat comical, because to be elected as governor, the following rules apply.
Qualifications
Candidates for Governor and Lieutenant Governor must:

be eligible to vote in Minnesota

have not filed for another office at the upcoming primary or general election

be at least 25 years old upon assuming office

be a resident of Minnesota for at least one year before the general election

Interestingly, it’s the residency requirement we think is the most concerning. Why, because state law requires a person to obtain a new driver’s license within 60 days of a change of address. Thus, begging the question: when Lindell legally changed his address, did he file on time, and when he did, why didn’t he simply check the box on the form to update his voter registration at the same time?
Now, Lindell will not only seem to be a bit daft, but he will also need to clearly prove the date on which he officially became a repatriated Minnesotan. Will Secretary of State Steve Simon (DFL-MN) call for proof of Lindell’s candidacy validity?
If someone wanted to challenge Lindell’s candidacy for office, they clearly could.
