Iran Clerics “Surprisingly” Select Expected Zealot, Extremist Son of Khamenei

The selection of Mojtaba Khamenei, 56 as the New Supreme Leader, and successor to his father, is not a surprise, but rather expected, but also means he has a large target on his back, and if ours and Israeli Intelligence is solid, his life expectancy is short-lived.

His choice is a direct affront, a significant violation of the foundational tenets of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. It effectively establishes a hereditary monarchy, the Khamenei Dynasty. The power in evidence is the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The theocracy is on full display and virtually assures the fact the Iranian War will continue until a leader acceptable to the West is established.

Unless the radical elements are extricated rapidly, this will become a protracted conflict.
