Minnesota Report
The DFL Party Chair Ken Martin, Lt Governor Peggy Flanagan (DFL-MN), Attorney General Keith Ellison (DFL-MN), Secretary of State Steve Simon (DFL-MN) all meet with the Democratic National Committee and proposed an earlier Primary Date for Minnesota.
We have always supported this idea, and in fact have thought we should have a regional primary combined with Iowa and Wisconsin. Minnesota has often played a significant role in Presidential Elections based on the candidacies of Hubert Humphrey II, Eugene McCarthy, and Walter Mondale.
The DNC will announce its decision later in the year.
