Minnesota Report

Yesterday, on the House floor the DFL Majority passed funding for the Attorney General’s Office to add seven criminal prosecutors to their component. As we understand this is a return to the yesteryears of Hubert “Skip” Humphrey III days. On a 73-55 vote the body supported $269 million for funding in this biennium to reapply a Constitutionally requirement, support for local counties in criminal matters when requested.

Additionally, the entire House unanimously passed the budget for the Board of Public Defense, ahead of the rest of the state’s new budget. This $318 million in state support for public defenders, passed will significantly shore up the justice system. The DFL Majority showed the state what true justice can look like.
