Minnesota Report

Checks & Balances was Live on Patrol #512 with Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher

On Friday, our esteemed Publisher Shawn Towle was leaving Saint Paul and headed to Minneapolis when he found himself without a ride on the Light Rail Train. The reason being the misguided diminished service for trains after 11:00 pm. Maybe the old adage of nothing good happens after midnight is in full force, but additionally, this was another opportunity for a discussion about the plight of our society with the rampant fentanyl abuse that occurs daily on this mass transit system. Lacking a means to travel other than by bicycle, Towle called Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher for a ride, expecting one to the county border. In turn, Fletcher offered a ride all the way.

During the trip, Towle commenced a discussion about the fentanyl problems on the train he has personally witnessed and the stories he has published along with his conversations with Metropolitan Council Commissioner Charles Zelle. He commented on his knowledge of a lack of Saint Paul support on the Green Line versus the Blue Line in Minneapolis, and it stemming from local funding, or in this case lack thereof.

You can hear the entirety of the trip on Live on Patrol Episode 512.
