Minnesota Report

The vote result was a Senate commonplace 34-33. The debate was robust, Republican opposition very vocal, but none of their amendments passed. At one point, Sen Steve Drazkowski (R-20, Mazeppa) really poked the bear, invoking the words of Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL), when he referred to the entirety of this session as advancing a Democrat-Woke Agenda.

Now, the House and Senate will need to reconcile their differences in conference, but what will remain is a system akin to the Worker’s Compensation system where employers and employees pay into the system and their compensation will be shared communally and Minnesota will become one state that joins the 129 nations of the world in providing Paid Family and Medical Leave.
